I have a question, does anyone's company require internal calibrations for your electronic balances? I know the Mettler line comes with this option, but a company I worked for years ago got cited for using it because the internal weight used to perform the calibration was not traceable, nor periodically calibrated. My current lab wants to require it and I can't seem to convince them other wise. Any thoughts on this?

I agree with QASPecialist,
I agree with QASPecialist, I'd avoid the internal calibrations if at all possible. You should be able to satisfy the USP requirements without performing internal cals, that would be my argument to your lab.

Our company stays away from doing internal calibrations, if you have a well maintained balance on a regular external calibration cycle, with daily external weight checks, there shouldn't be any need for internal calibrations. That way you can avoid the question altogether of tracablility of those internal weights.
